Manual Map lights

can someone please confirm that the front map lights stay on
until 12VDC battery goes flat or the globe blows
if pressed manually.
eg.
turn auto function off
push up to turn on 1 of the 2 lights, close the doors & hatch and lock

I've noticed this occurs on the GM/Holden Volt and the Nissan LEAF too.

on a VW Golf, this function is electronic, so all lights go off eventually via computer control.

Did you know that the slide switch located between the two map lights on the overhead will make them operate like the overhead dome light when the door is opened. ie with the slide in the upper position , the "map" lights will come on and turn off when the door (at minimum the drivers door) is opened and closed. Not sure about the other doors.

yes i normally set the front lights to auto.

but here is the rub.
close all the doors, press up on the map light, note that both sides are independent of each other.

leave car for 2 hours.
come back

note that the light is still on.
