one month winter iMiev non-use in Canada - what to do?

Mitsubishi recommends to leave the traction battery at 3-4 bars on the battery gauge on the dashboard. I leave mine for months at a time (in a garage) and have never had any issues, that said, I do disconnect the negative cable on the 12v battery at the same time. You will have to reset the...

An Article on Over Inflating Your Tires

Excellent find Don. Just replaced the stock tires with the Yokohama Avid Envigor and yes there is about a 10% REDUCTION in range. Tried different tire pressures but no significant difference. Thanks again for all you do to keep us informed and in line. Joe

    Wanted : 2012 SE

Congrats! I was looking at that car also. I'm located in Long Island NY and almost made the 3 hr drive to go see it. I was on the dealers email list waiting for the price to drop but it never did. I've owned a 2012 imiev since new and just LOVE it! One note: The range is directly related to...

    Shifter Back Light

No back light :( . The only info about shift lever position is in the instrument cluster to the left, opposite the battery gauge (and on the shifter of course). Not very convenient but you get use to it.

US to create nationwide network of EV charging stations

The US government has announced "an unprecedented set of actions" to pump up the country's plug-in electric vehicle market, including US$4.5 billion in loan guarantees to create a nationwide network of commercial scale and fast charging stations. The initiative to push for greater electric car...

    Some dude unplugged my I-miev

In St. Petersburg FL in a city parking garage we had a learning curve for charging etiquette. Most EVers there now know how to tell from the lights on the charging station if the EV plugged in is finished charging. We now have an "understanding" that if the EV is finished charging its ok to...

    Motor Control Unit Recall

Had the recall done about 3k miles ago. Can't say the total range got better but the RR gauge seems to update more often and seems more accurate base on the current driving conditions and KW's left.

I-Miev got broken into with charger stolen!

I take a lock and cable and put it thru the tire rim on my plug-in Prius. Then take the power cord and put that thru the lock loop and lock it. Now the power cord is locked outside the car to the tire. I just tried the lock on my i car and it actually fits in one spoke in the rim, eliminating...

Help Me: I hate the "Golf Cart" comment

Happened to us yesterday!! At a stop sign an SUV going in the opposite direction lowered his window and said "What happened to the other half of your car?". I was speechless! I just gave him the "EV GRIN" (and nothing else) and moved on. I then said to my wife, "I would have loved to have said...

Probably the only house on the planet with 2 IMIEVs

clovi, It was close. Back in May 2013 I almost purchased a second one. I went to the dealer and got the 10K rebate then negotiated a bottom line price. Ready to sign the papers, then my wife decides to retire and we then realized we could get by with the one EV. Now I have to share  Great...

    PREPARATION FOR COLD SEASONS

Once the warranty is up I plan on taking the hose that goes from the reservoir in the rear of the car and re-plumbing it thru the cabin with a section of slant fin baseboard hot water pipe and a couple of valves to control it (valves for bypass in the summer). Now when its charging I will get...

    AVAS question

There is a device that looks like a speaker in the front right side of the i. I am NOT suggesting this be done for safety reasons so do it at your own risk but..... You would start by taking off the top/inner plastic liner in the right front wheel well under the car. The speaker is located there...

Level of charge for storage .. How long B4 runs down?

Quote from the green 17 page owner’s handbook. Page 16 states “Make sure the battery’s energy level gauge shows 2-4 bars”. “Do not leave the battery charged with more than 4 bars”. “Check the battery residual every 3 months and if you see any discharge, please charge to 2-4 bars”.

    $7500 tax credit problem

It finally went thru! After 45 minutes on the phone with the IRS, and got no where, I tried for about the 25th time with a data entry change. On the on line "Free file fillable form 8936" when you enter the vehicle info you actually have to start with the model year 2 lines above the line...

    $7500 tax credit problem

I’m having trouble getting the $7500 tax credit (federal income tax in the US). I’m using the IRS online web site “Free File” and it keeps rejecting the form 8936. I have more than $7500 in tax liability. Anyone else having a problem? Anyone successful? Thanks, Joe
