EVent: Silicon Valley EAA Rally, Sat Sep 28, 2013 @Cupertino, CA

Their 41th Annual Rally is being held at DeAnza College Cupertino, CA
See their Rally page
http://eaasv.org/rally.html

Additionally, I posted more details on the evdl.org , the mother of EV discussions, so as to have only one location, making corrections and updates easier. See

Please consider attending this free EVent if you are in the area.

*Note: The East SF Bay Chapter recommends people come to the Silicon Valley EVent, since they will not be having their EVent this year:

Charging:
There are several level-2 J1772 GE Wattstation EVSE at DeAnza College
http://brucedp13.20m.com/eaasvr2013/de-anza-college-evse-20130630-001-s.jpg
Encase you arrive and do not have a GE rfid card, the Chapter can enable one of these EVSE for you (a free J1772 charge).

The Chapter's power panels that I updated/reworked last year, will be available for drivers that have not upgraded to J1772 yet. See :

Charge your plugin from solar gathered from their parking-lot canopy

* Please plan to attend and enjoy National Plug in Day with us, as each year this EVent gets better and better (more people know about it, and come).

I hope to see you there :)

Well, the Silicon Valley EAA Rally was a resounding success, judging by the number of people interested in EVs who came to kick tires and ask questions. I showed off our iMiEV and Sparrow (right next to each other), and endlessly answered the "range" question with my now-standard 200miles/day with the real-life example I've previously discussed here. For some reason people continue to think that all they can do is the EPA 62miles and then life ends until the next day as they read somewhere that it takes "22 hours to recharge the car" - my example continues being an eye-opener.

A total of five i-MiEVs showed up and it was interesting meeting the owners we had occasionally waved to. Three white, one burgundy, and a silver one. I had looked forward to seeing the BMW i3 (simply academic curiosity), but it was pulled at the last minute by BMW.
Mitsubishi was nowhere to be seen. One lady was very enthusiastic about the iMiEV as she wanted buy (not lease) something smaller than the Leaf - even more enthusiastic after I pointed out the iMiEV's advantages over the SmartED and SparkEV and Fiat500E. She immediately got on her phone and called a bunch of Mitsu dealers in our area enquiring as to the car's availability (none or didn't know) and whether they could ship a car in (didn't know) so she threw up her hands and bought a brand new Think! on the spot, as a bunch of these leftovers are being unloaded for under $20K. Lots of people enthusiastic about the iMiEV were quite perplexed when I told them that the future of the iMiEV in the US was simply unknown. I expect a spate of phone calls to the local Mitsu dealers in the next few days...

Where they're likely to hear "I don't know" several more times

It's tough when someone shows genuine interest in your car and wants to know where they can get one and the best they can get from the dealership is . . . . "We don't know"
