Safety bolts on the bottom cover

I have been having a hard time getting the bottom cover off my car. Many bolts have a plastic cover, that comes of when using tools (10mm socket).

I am in the driveway with no welder.
I have tried almost everything I can come up with, except a straight grinder.

Does anyone know what tool to take care of these "the right way"?

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

It’s been a while since I took my battery out but I had no problems with removing any covers or bolts. I was probably lucky as I didn’t encounter any rust or corrosion reported by many owners, especially if the car was driven in winter on salted roads.

You may have no choice but to use a heavy handed approach, if you don’t mind me asking how old is the car and why are you trying to take the covers off?
