iMiev ‘brake’ panel light on

Has anyone seen this:

It’s 21F here in Idaho Falls. My wife stops at a stop light for 2 minutes. Light turns green. When she presses the gas, “the car starts beeping and the ‘brake’ panel light comes on”. She pulls over and turns off the car. She calls me. I tell her to restart the car. No ‘brake’ lights come on and everything is normal again.

The only time I see the ‘brake’ panel light is when the emergency brake is on. But it was not on (pulled).
Any ideas on what causes this?

Have you checked the brake fluid level?

I experienced this once too about a month ago, also mid-commute, cured by a restart. Temps were above freezing after a colder night and days of thick fog. After eliminating the usual suspects, my only remaining theory is that a piece of melting ice in a vacuum line dislodged and caused a temporary obstruction. I never noticed an impact on braking power, electrical or mechanical.
