There is a post on the Tesla form with a downloadable .PDF of the NTSB report on the Dreamliner battery fires. As most of you know, the batteries are made by GS Yuasa and are similar in construction to the battery cells in the I-MiEV. The report faults Yuasa for the problems due to manufacturing process problems and some design issues. Interesting read and some good pictures of the internal construction of a Li-Ion cell that is a close cousin to ours.

Thanks. Interesting construction of the cells. I would've never though the plates were layered in a circle, then flattened and stacked with fusible links inside the cells. I thought they were simply one big cathode, the electrolyte, and a big anode.

Thankfully, the problem with the Dreamliner batteries only affected a handful of vehicles.
