Erratic power drop from On to Start

Thanks, Mickey. I'll look for one.

Erratic power drop from On to Start

Couldn't register it at Mitsubishi Garage. Couldn't get past Salesforce Authentificaiton bizarre process, which demanded I register a two-step on my phone and wouldn't allow Mitsubishi.

Erratic power drop from On to Start

Thanks. Mine is a 2012 with 59K miles on it. Warrentee probably gone. I'm using it around town - with trepidation. I'll explore registering it with Mitsubishi and possible diagnostic proceedures. Remote heat still a mystery.

Erratic power drop from On to Start

Thanks. I especially will try the Heat function before using the Defrost. Perhaps that will work. When I manage to get Defrost to go on remotely, I feel no heat in it. I'll try your suggestion. I was enjoying my MiEV until suddenly, at 12 miles left, it not only went into Turtle Mode...

Erratic power drop from On to Start

Thanks. The most recent charge topped out at 54 miles and did not decrease when moved from On to Start. I charged up to all the bars. Still uncertain is whether and how to heat the cabin via the remote when plugged in and charged. One time, merely waiting a while after pressing Send...

Erratic power drop from On to Start

I like my new (2012) MiEV even though I knew it had only about a 30-mile range. It's safer and more comfortable than my previous electric bike, adequate for around-town use. The previous owner always plugged it in after trips. I drove it until it reached 2 miles left before charging...

    Can't find CHAdeMo door opener

Thanks, Micky. I'll send in the VIN. Probably no CHAdmO charger there.

    Can't find CHAdeMo door opener

Should be by the driver's seat on the left near the floor. Nothing there. Any other locations for the opener? (2012 MiEV)

    New title: Weak Heater

I try to preheat when plugged in and charging. No beeps happen. No activity inside car. The heater works when driving (draws down power) but weakly.

    New title: Weak Heater

Thanks, Toby. Indeed, the remote is awkward and non-intuitive, especially via reading the owner's manual. I did find the Heat Mode, which had times attached, but Send didn't send. The manual says adjustments inside the vehicle don't affect the function. So far, nothing goes on. After a full...

    New title: Weak Heater

Remote heater (while plugged in) doesn't seem to do anything. I click on the Heat position, give it 1 hour, and press Send. Nothing changes. Any advice?

    Buying a worn 2012

Thanks, Mickey. I bought the car (for $2000). It had a 30-mile range. Works okay in D or Eco. It dropped below the 50% charge and didn't go into Turtle Mode. When it had 12 miles remaining I took it on the freeway. At about 60 MPH it went into Turtle and got weak. I managed to get to a...

    Buying a worn 2012

Thanks, Coulomb, for your detailed reply. Looks like I'm in over my head to attempt an upgrade or even a refurbish. Perhaps in time, I can gather from this forum or an educational book how to diagnose and adapt. Perhaps in time, innovative DIYers will come up with more reliable packages than...

    Buying a worn 2012

Thanks, Kiev. This provides hope for the future of this car. $3000 to restore this classic would be a great deal, assuming I could do the work. I also doubled up on Mickey's questions. I assume Member Piev is a person on this forum. I'll try to find it. I'll also have to learn the...

    Buying a worn 2012

Thanks, Mickey, for the detailed reply. Discouraging. Such a cute car. My gamble is whether it would work for a few years as a safer around-town vehicle than my electric bike. By then, I'm hoping plug-in hybrids will have dropped in price enough to purchase. At 78 and after a couple of...

    Buying a worn 2012

I have the option to buy a nice 2012 MiEV with a worn battery for a decent price ($2000). The current owner claims it runs OK if the charge is above 50%. Below that it won't go on the freeway or up big hills. I drove it and it had ample around-town pep but lagged on steep hills. A 30-mile...
