Thanks! I ended up buying a 2014 Outlander SE with the safety package. Couldn't wait for the PHEV. Happy with it so far. It's loud and sluggish compared to the Miev but it has the space an active family needs. Going to visit the Ford dealer today.
Am thinking about selling my 2012 SE based in Honolulu. I need a five seater and looking to side grade to the Ford Focus EV. Happy to send details to anyone interested.
Used our iMiev to provide electricity via an inverter while camping. During the day, I couldn't turn off the daytime running lights. Anyone know how to turn them off temporarily? As a side note, I had to turn off the car and wait about 5 mins before turning back on at night for the system to...
One unexpected plus with electric cars is driving in traffic is not as bad. ICE cars really suck at MPG on crawls. Opposite with EVs. Honolulu has by many measures the worst traffic in the country so it's a big plus here in my state.
Seems like they are now selling for less than $50,000 before tax credits. Love the iMiev but I think with little kids the safety of the ELR seems to be a worthwhile upgrade. Right now I don't let my kids ride in the back of the iMiev if we are going on the freeway. Going to see if I can grab one...
Interesting article on the problems with the range extender keeping up with the car

Sorry if this info is in this thread. But to be clear, if I buy the EXACT same tire sizes, will I run into any problems? For instance, Yokohama AVID ENVIgor comes in the same exact sizes for almost 50% less. These work?
Just called my sister in Hilo. They said it was scary and the rain soaked wind ripped right through their closed windows. They've been without electricity since yesterday but are in good spirits. We get hit with a much weaker storm sometime today. It windy and rainy on Oahu right now.
Thanks! Did you have any trouble clipping directly to the 12 volt battery or experience any issues? With the car in ready the entire time will anything else power up like fans?
Sounds like running a few lights direct off the battery is ok. I read the lighter can give you 100 watts but you are...
I found this and it seems like the Leaf can power this type of inverter: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=14034. Also found a more interesting one where you can power a home with your Leaf: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=13097.
Don't want to be stranded though...
Going on a camping trip and wondering if I can leave the car on and run lighting and stuff from an inverter plugged into the cigarette lighter for a few hours at a time. I can charge the car during the day so draining at night won't be a problem.
Thinking about buying this one...
When we bought it the 12V battery was dead. We didn't know that at the time. They jumped the car to get it started then charged it for us. I picked it up the day after we paid for it and noticed that light. Next day I looked it up and called them and they said not to drive it. They towed it in...
For those interested (I am), looks like late 2015 the Outlander PHEV should be in the U.S. and as an upgrade to what's out there now http://insideevs.com/2016-us-bound-mitsubishi-outlander-phev-to-be-completely-different/.
