    14.5kWh storage capacity?

Looks unbalanced, try by completing the charge at home with slow charge for whole night. Charge shouldn't ever be manually stopped right after reaching 100%, because after charging, the balancing begins. Not leaving in charge after 100% for many times can lead to cells unbalancing, which results...

    Because I'm already driving an E-Scooter! ;)

    Battery replacement survey

As more time passes, more second-hand battery-exhautsed iMiev&clones will reach the market. (and also other EVs). As an electric car can last 20 years without any motor degradation, while in 20 years battery technology will reach unthinkable targets, it's "compulsory" to think about how to...

    Battery replacement survey

Added some useful resources in first post. That's a big question! A full re-packing would also require fully replacing Battery Management System... with unpredictable results on car electronics.

    Battery replacement survey

I do not own an iMiev. But I'm trying to figure out if purchasing a second-hand one with exhausted battery could be an option. Of course it would not if battery alone costs 25000$....

    Battery replacement survey

Of course! I guess yes.... but only each user knows where/when he wrote such data: a single person (me?) looking for all data around the forum would spend days/months, but each single user could spend 5 min in just copying his data here, and at same time he'll found here data from other users...

    Battery replacement survey

Thanks... but I didn't ask my question (3) properly: I meant "how many km were you able to drive per charge at time of replacement?" Anyway also your answer is interesting, so I'll just add a question (6).

    Battery replacement survey

It would be interesting to build a database-thread with these informations from various owners: Did you replace the battery within warranty time? Which variant of battery did you receive? How many km did you drive at time of replacement? How much would the replacement had costed out of...

Battery cell failing at just 2900 km (1800 miles)

Permament usage of defective lithium battery is never a good idea. :o Apart from this, any news on the topic? Replacement arrived? How much would it cost to replace the battery out of warranty?

New Battery Pack at 2,000 Miles

As far as I know, users/owners have no "access" to 0% SoC and 100% SoC in modern electric cars: it's hidden by the onboard firmware, e.g. if battery has 24 kWh, you see just 21 kWh available, with margins below and above: so you think you are at 100% SoC but you are at 90%; this allows both...

New Battery Pack at 2,000 Miles

Electronic circuitry in modern electric car is all but trivial; keeping a car "charging" for a week or a month can't damage the car in any way! Current does not keep flowing into the batteries! On the contrary, there's always some electric appliance active in the car, so keeping the car...

Cost to replace an i-miev battery?

Only weird recommendatin I remember I've read in the manual is to avoid full discharging of secondary 12V battery, as this would prevent from starting the car.

I subscribe the thread... and I wait some years...

i'er iChart: The iMiev Range Chart. ANY VOLUNTEERS?

And these are the sad charts taking into account coulombic efficiency... edit: damn imperial units... X axis was wrong too. Now it should be ok in all images.

i'er iChart: The iMiev Range Chart. ANY VOLUNTEERS?

Peukert effect is negligible in lithium batteries: discharge them at C20 or C2, and you'll get same capacity. Lead: Lithium: But maybe you were thinking to coulombic efficiency, i.e. ratio betweeen energy you actually store in the battery and energy you get from grid; this is a good point...

i'er iChart: The iMiev Range Chart. ANY VOLUNTEERS?

Of course it's not my research,it's just my chart. ;) About the maximum range, it depends on the standby power consumption, which is not knwon unless somebody measures it, but I think it's very tricky to disconnect the traction battery of an EV... So I consider 300W for all vehicles, which by...

i'er iChart: The iMiev Range Chart. ANY VOLUNTEERS?

Thanks to this additional paper http://www.empa.ch/plugin/template/empa/*/135716/---/l=1 I was able to draw a much more interesting chart: These are ranges in World Lightduty Test Cycle, both at standard temperature (23°C), winter temperature (-7°C) and summer temperature (35°C). It results...
