Re: Anyone Here Like the 2021 Bolt?

I have talked over a half-dozen friends into buying Bolts, and they all love the car, with zero problems. The LG Chem batteries in the 2017-2019 Bolts have had their issues resulting in a possible fire, but supposedly GM has come up with a fix which allows them to test/monitor the battery to see if ...

Re: What tire would you recommend?

jlhiowa, thank you for compiling this list. I think your selections are just fine. Even though the OEM Dunlop Enasaves probably eke out better mileage, we've learned over time that parameter just doesn't matter much... or does it? hmm, guess 5% improvement over 25,000 miles is 1250 miles at 1kWh/4.2...

Re: Mini E

My brother-in-law is in town and we went BEV tire-kicking now that we're vaccinated. Drove the Mini-E and liked it's handling. I love small cars and this was ok, but IMO the total package is not a replacement for our venerable i-MiEV.
Edit: Really loved its one-pedal driving!

Re: VW ID.4 EV

Test drove one today. Designed for perceived mass appeal, which it may well have. Two modes: zero-regen and regen (D & B). I love the zero-regen for highway driving, but their regen mode is too wimpy and not one-pedal driving. Wish they had a regen paddle. Very nice overall package with lots of ...

Re: Fuel costs

Hi Matheos, I understand your frustration, especially as it applies to total cost of ownership. This thread is about fuel cost which is still one of the i-MiEVs strong points, as it has proven to be quite efficient, at least in the summer. If you'd like, perhaps we can have a separate thread discuss...

Re: Hypermiling the i-MiEV

Thought I'd share a neat trick I've developed, but first some background... My wife's i-MiEV is becoming 'range challenged'. This i-MiEV (named Moto ) which we bought used was probably abused as a child. With under 45K miles on the odometer, Canion shows the battery at 32Ah and with 'normal' driving...

Re: iCarsoft i909 Diagnostic Tool

In the 2012 (and newer) North American version of the i-MiEV, here's what the manual says: It is possible to select the speedometer's display units - 1. Press the reset button to display the odometer 2. Keep the reset button pressed for two seconds or longer to change the display units from MPH to k...

Here's a thread with drawings of a small custom hitch: http://myimiev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2344 Photos here: https://files.fm/u/xksljth I consider the TorkLift trailer hitch I bought years ago as the most worthwhile mod to my i-MiEV, despite having to lug that 41# around all the time (...

Re: Electric motor unit warning light (stopped charging mid-charge)

Got the car back today, one week after having it towed to the dealer. Error code was P0A09. The dealer replaced the OBC. Everything seems to work fine now. Also, the problem compelled me to replace the 12V myself, 7 years after buying the car. I'm hoping for many more years of driving it. Happy end...

Re: Electric motor unit warning light (stopped charging mid-charge)

Update: I had the car towed to the dealer. They diagnosed the error and said that as a start the OBC needs to be replaced and that "luckily" there is a warranty extension on that part so there will be no charge. Now we wait for the part to come. Excellent news! Please do follow-up and let...
