Re: 2012 vs 2017

In addition to the normal mechanical things one checks when buying a ten-year-old car, especially if exposed to salt in a winter, there are a couple of things I would do: 1. Get an OBDII adapter and one of the apps which tells you what the battery capacity is, as I believe this is the overriding con...

Re: Coolant pump makes continuous noise

macowi, welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your problem. I don't recall this ever being discussed on this forum. I was hoping that someone experienced with this would chime in. I cannot imagine that continuous running of the coolant pump is normal, nor that Mitsu would have made such a design...

Re: Driving Without OBC/dcdc

My guess is that the OBC only gets powered up during charging so there is no CAN buss activity during READY. To test this you could just unplug the connector to the OBC and see if it goes to READY or not and throws a code. If it works then you could proceed with the plumbing bypass. [/i]Kenny (kiev...

Driving Without OBC/dcdc

Well, it's now my turn. Long story, sorry - On March 15, six weeks after the expiration of the OBC ten-year warranty on my i-MiEV, the car stopped charging in the middle of an overnight charge well before the Remote programmed to stop around 13 bars. The car now doesn't charge using J1772 but goes i...

Great!

Love the moon wheel covers - how are they holding up? Years ago on my Gen1 Insight the moons had a slight movement and eventually chafed into the alloy wheels.

Re: What Remaining Range Are Owners Getting On Their 2012 Cars?

veimi, I suspect that ambient temperature might significantly affect the full-charge RR. My wife's car, purchased used, still has the original battery, is at 78K km (almost 50K miles). CaniOn shows 31.4Ah, and she typically shows RR≈50 miles (80km) on a full charge over this last winter with air tem...

Re: New 2009 i-MiEV Owner

...I will have to do a more thorough discharge by just leaving the car on at a lower SoC and seeing what happens from there... [/i]Leaving the car ON in READY at such low SoC is *interesting*, as the dc-dc is still keeping the 12v battery alive and the car's systems continue sucking down the main b...

Re: Just Bought an I-MiEV and I'm Writing about it

Kevin, welcome to the forum and thank you for your entertaining informative (and cringeworthy) articles. Delighted that your shifter cable and 'gear' selector replacements were successful, with no battery lowering misadventures. Living in California I have no appreciation for dealing with rusted aut...

A relatively-common ruse by spammers it to first join our forum and then post one or more innocuous and usually inane comments on random threads, before subsequently escalating and hitting us with posts with a link to whatever product they're hawking (shilling?), often with many posts in quick succe...
