The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

In fact I had no problems with charge ending. I never paid attention on how charges were ending. It was charge and forget. But last summer, at the first charge with a resettable 1 A thermal circuit breaker and two resistors of 4.7 Ω and 50 W, I remained present with Canion during the whole...

The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

I got the same problem when I had to change these resistors. Below is a successful approach. The two original cemented resistors of 4.7 Ω 10 W and 5 W were replaced by two wire-wound resistors of 4.7 Ω and 50 W of power with Aluminum casing to promote heat dissipation. Why 50 W? Power =...

The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

    Well done siggs P on the scheme is 5 W. Is 10 W better ? P=RI^2 Or P=U^2/R 10 W 4.7 Ohm then Imax = 1.5 A, or Umax = 6.9 V 5 W 4.7 Ohm then Imax = 1.0 A, or Umax = 4.9 V No thermal fuse ?

The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

Thanks for your answer Also many thanks for this blog and all the contributors. I would not have been able to fix my OBC without your precious informations. The resistors R105 and R106 being now "naked", to avoid any electrical contact, I inserted some glass plates. Glass plates should also...

The Troubleshooting and Repair for On-board Charger (OBC) Thread

I had the same problem. The ceramic of the small R106 was broken due to over heating. The thermal fuse in the R105 did blow off at 157 °C but luckily R106 and R105 resistors were safe. I fixed back the problem with a 20A fuse .... easily accessible now and the On-board charger is working again...

    Battery Capacity Testing

Red triangle points on this graph are showing me68’s cell 23 collapsing, blue and green triangle are me68 voltages values before the problem and after the change of cell. Lowest Cell Voltage versus SoC by Blue I.ightning Lowest cell voltage data are collected battery at rest. If data are not...

    Canion Battery Readings

Sorry, not familiar with dropbox, may be this link will work https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b6rsy6a1k5ug7b1/AABi3PYC7bsw3X-VqyNgAh64a?dl=0 Battery Capacity is also sensitive to the discharge rate, but it does seem to be a sensitive case between 10 A and 50 A, see Fig. 2 Discharge characteristics...

    Canion Battery Readings

Capacity measurement should probably be done at room temperature For Prius's EV, the lost of capacity with temperature should be only around 4%, (if Prius's battery has been charged at room temperature, otherwise, it's probably more). Excel LV50 Battery Capacity Lost versus versus temperature...

    Canion Battery Readings

It's a 16 kw-h battery because there is 88 cells, the LEV50's start with 50Ah x 3.7V x 88 cells = 16.28kWh, and it is well documented that the on board computer will not allow to use more than 90% or 95% of the 16 kw-h of the battery, Blue Lightning was built on march the 11th 2011 and is on the...

    Canion Battery Readings

The Wh Out given by the on board computer to canion are correct but the Wh Reg given by the on board computer to Canion are unreal and far too pessimistic. With the help from Canion's Seclog data, below, see a graph Energy in kW-h versus State of Charge in % Check the slope of the Charge line...

    My first ever rapid charge

So on, this is an other reason for me to be delighted with my i-miev clone. "baluzzo" was writing about the other Plug, an AC "43 kW" as writen by "Charge Map". "Plug type 2, Fast charging, Cable is attached to the charge point, 43kW" (southern side plug) , see this Zoe driver comment and the...

    My first ever rapid charge

Please find here some graphs about my first Chademo rapid Charge last summer. I went back yesterday to try to get some missing data, last time I didn't check the DC kill A watt values at the Chademo charger, But this recent Chademo charger was out of order, .... and also the system get aware...

    Battery Capacity Testing

Yes, that's how I did, see post http://myimiev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=18034#p18034 but a full discharge is not helpfull and not to advise. I just drew a graph Wh out versus SoC, you get the graph below showing steps because SoC resolution is of 0.5 %. The slope of an average straight line...

Why does Mitsubishi recommend fully charging every 2 weeks?

Doing full charges since two years, battery State of Health like the first day. Below see link to calibration record with the help of seclog data from canion when below two bars. I rarely go below two bars. http://myimiev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=18067#p18067 Range will be more accurate and...

    Why do Li-ion Batteries die?

Thanks to Malm, temperature effects far above 25 °C, (77°F) are well documented. Malm main discovery is that regardless of an observed decrease in capacity, State of Charge changes over time to allow SOC=100% to correspond to a fully charged cell. For temperature effects far below 25 °C...

    Canion

I know that's the discharge is correct when there is no regeneration, that's far enough for me and thanks to Canion and to some other parameters I know that my battery is still a 50 Ah Canion is a great and smart application, many thanks for it, may be some curves like Charge or volt versus SoC...
