    Aerodynamic Mods to Reduce Drag

Wow, I LOVE the look of that car! Too bad they didn't make this the follow up to the current i-Miev. That really is nice. I will have to save that image to give me hope that someday we will see cars like this... Very sweet!

Has anyone car dolly towed i-MiEV?

I did a google search and found the emergency manual for the i-Miev and they clearly don't want you towing this car with a dolly forwards or backwards. I don't know how the folks pulling it with the RV did it unless they put it on a trailer. Like someone else mentioned here the crazy...

Has anyone car dolly towed i-MiEV?

Sorry to resurrect an old topic. Did we ever figure out if the i-Miev can be dolly towed safely? I am trying to think ahead somewhat my plans to transport my EV about 900 miles at some point in the future and I think I would need to use a tow dolly for that purpose with the weight restrictions...

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

I have been watching the ads for one with a "Flux Capacitor and a 1.21 gigawatt range extender", but haven't seen one yet... :D LOL

    Comparative Energy Efficiency

I know we all have our own driving circumstances that fit our own needs. Speaking for myself I could certainly use a good highway range of 100-120 miles. From where I live today there are quite a few places that I drive several times a year in the local area that are 60-70 miles in distance...

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

Thanks guys, not sure where I thought I saw something about a heated wheel. Maybe just mixing up stuff from looking at the Leaf stuff a while ago. I appreciate the feedback.

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

Does the heated steering wheel come in the ES? Or was that reserved for the SE models in the 2012? I looked to see in Joe's post about the SE vs ES post, but I didn't see any mention of it. So I was curious if that was not available in the ES.

    Comparative Energy Efficiency

It really is too bad that Mitsubishi is giving up in the US market. The i-Miev has an advantage that the other manufacturers are spending a fortune trying to accomplish which is to reduce the weight of the car. Look at the money BMW is spending on carbon fiber and polymer to try and get the...

    Comparative Energy Efficiency

Agreed, i-Miev is still based on real first gen technology. I am just surprised that it isn't closer in efficiency given it's weight advantage. Clearly it is time for them to refresh the car. The IONIQ appears to be showing the market what is possible and that maybe you don't need 60kwh...

    Comparative Energy Efficiency

The Ioniq appears to be knocking it out of the park. Proving you don't need a monster battery to get good daily range. This car appears to be schooling the entire EV market. Honestly what I am shocked by is how inefficient the i-Miev is considering how light it is. It is kind of shocking...

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

I don't understand the situation with the warranty since the car was never sold to a consumer and does not get reported to carfax like a normal transaction. I guess it doesn't matter, the dealer says the warranty is expired, and I just looked at the carfax again and it also says the warranty...

    Navigation system maps updates?

Thanks Joe. That is what I was wondering about are the maps updates, cost and process. I know they used to be pretty costly before I bought the Garmin with lifetime maps. So it sounds like I am better off just using my Garmin. It is all of these "unseen" costs that add up. I was looking...

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

Joe, That is a good question about the full warranty. I am emailing them now for clarification on that point. The carfax implies that the car hasn't been titled. So I will ask that question. If that is the case then I think this would be a great candidate and I will want to move quickly on...

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

They are asking $6k plus dealer handling etc, plus I have to pay shipping. I did pull up the carfax info and that is how I found out the car had not been registered. Also pulled up the VIN to see what the build sheet says for the car. Now it is just the battle of getting someone to answer...

    Navigation system maps updates?

I am in the car buying process and one of the things I am considering is the benefits of the built in navigation system vs bring your own. How does Mitsubishi provide the updates for maps and firmware in the built in systems? Has anyone here done this to keep their navigation systems up to...

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

One of the cars I am looking at is a 2012 with 20+k miles on it. It is an SE with navigation. It is at a Mitsubishi dealer. I asked if the car has the LEV50 battery and the reply I got seems to imply the answer is no if I am understanding the info. I am asking for clarification about the...

    Alignment Issues and Discussions

So was in conclusive that the alignment is out of spec from the factory? Does this only affect the 2012 or does it affect other years also? Did this appear to address the tire wear issue?

    Hypermiling the i-MiEV

I get the impression from some of the replies in this thread that possibly there is some confusion about how hypermiling fits their own use in the city or urban setting. Some of the techniques here are applicable to all driving environments and others are specific to less city oriented driving...

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

Thank you for explaining about the upgraded battery and when that came out. I was not aware of this. That adds a new level of complexity to this search. So it is making me lean more toward trying to find a 2014.

Are the 2012 models getting too risky?

Thanks for the clarification about the EVSE. I mistakenly was calling it "the charger". I wasn't thinking about the upgrade 240v option so that is very helpful. Thanks! I didn't think of a fuel gauge less than 16 bars as being a plus, but if Mitsubishi is going to give you a new battery...
