New Sins and Old Sins...Mitsu Fuel Economy

Will that be good or bad for BEVs?

New Sins and Old Sins...Mitsu Fuel Economy

The topic is really deserving of it's own thread. Nissan needs the PHEV SUVs, but may relegate Mistubishi Motors to a kei car manufacturer, much as Toyota did with Daihatsu.

Teapot gets a brand new traction pack under warranty

Glad to hear you got the car back, and repairs were covered under warranty. Somewhat disturbing to hear that the problems began after "routine servicing" at the dealership responsible for the repairs. My trust in car dealerships ran out years ago.

Flaps in the front of the car

NA Spec has them. They might help aerodynamics in front of the tires, or sacrificial to prevent front bumper curb rash, providing the auditory scraping sound before the paint or tire is impacted.

    Camping with an i-miev

I guess I'm old school. I think there's plenty of room in the car for a couple of back packs, sleeping bags, and a tent.

    i-MiEV with in-wheel motors

MiEVs were originally "Mitsubishi In-wheel motor Electric Vehicle" from the days of the Colt MiEV project. Mitsu was having control issues with the hub motors, so went back to a more traditional layout and changed the name. PML Flightlink had a similar attampt with the MINI Cooper, before they...

Mitsubishi learns from previous electric mistakes

The price difference of vehicles sold in Europe vs. the US has much more to do with VAT and government imposed taxes than with the manufacturer. I no longer even see Mitsubishi advertisements, as there is no longer a local dealer to support. Top speed of 81 mph / 130 kph is more than enough to...

How long will it be before electric cars will be the norm

The last I had seen, the average age of a car on the road was about 11 years. For every new car or two sold, there's a 20 year old Honda Civic or 30 year old Olds 88 crawling around. That means a 20 year generational turnover. I would say we might see more electrics sold than ICE in another 20...

    World's worst charging station?

Google image search shows Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, Scotland. Apparently at the Council Offices.... http://www.plugshare.com/?location=61368

    Charging Concerns in West Virginia

One more reason why car dealers rank down there with lawyers and oil companies in most people's estimation.

Mitsubishi to stop manufacturing cars in the United States

So far, no official comment. Rumors are often true, but can be quite destructive, even when false. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/07/23/us-mitsubishimotors-usa-production-idUSKCN0PX2GJ20150723

Joe, those small wind turbines in the last picture...

Odd. NPS has a page allowing monitoring of each individual turbine. 0 energy produced, though the PV is working fine. http://www.sfnps.org/birds/crissy_wind_turbine_impact_study http://frogdashboard.com/crissy/details.htm?catdidhome=1&buildidhome=1&timeidhome=4

    The Coal-Powered Car

The UCS report: http://www.ucsusa.org/sites/default/files/legacy/assets/documents/clean_vehicles/electric-car-global-warming-emissions-report.pdf PNNL's two part report reached similar conclusions, though it is a bit older, and US coal usage has noticeably declined in the interim. CR Again

Consumer Reports now has the "disappointing dozen" list, and - no surprise - the i-MiEV made their list. Only the Mitsu Mirage got a worse rating. The problem is clear in their list: They don't like small cars and trucks...

Electric lawn Mowers - who uses them ?

I've had a small Neuton for several years. I had to replace one of the cells in the battery last year. Batteries +, Interstate ,etc. should carry them, and a single cell is half the price of a battery.

If I buy out of state will a local dealer do warranty work

Not all dealers. Depending on the nature of the work, Mitsubishi might allow any dealership to do it, or only a MiEV certified one. You can search to see if your local dealers are certified. http://www.mitsubishicars.com/dealers
