2016 i-miev about to be announced!?

Yeah, when the biggest news in your new model year is that you're restoring an option that you dropped in the previous model, you probably aren't trying very hard.

Thoughts on Prices for 2016, New 2014, used 2012 (or 2014)

If you're getting MSRP minus the dealer cash, don't worry about being greedy — they'll get their margin through that. If you can negotiate below that, go for it.

    lease about to run out

I spoke to Ally today while extending my lease. FYI the double rate is just Ally's standard policy for lease extension, but it sounds like they're offering the 6-month extension at the current rate on all i-MiEVs. It will be interesting to see what happens after six months pass.

    lease about to run out

I certainly don't regret leasing. The amount I paid is way less than the value the car has lost, so I came out on top. Fair play to those who purchased, as they get to hold onto the car and supported its concept with more fervor, and if you plan to keep the car it doesn't matter, but from a...

    lease about to run out

What is your current rate? When Ally called me last week to remind me about the termination, they offered nothing other than buying the vehicle for more than the cost of a new Leaf. Then they called yesterday offering up to six months at my current rate.

    lease about to run out

FYI I just got a call offering to extend my lease 6 more months at the rate I was paying ($150/month after tax). So maybe they're becoming a little less eager to see them come back.

A bad cell and a reduce range

When my battery failed, there was a survey in which they asked me about my driving habits, but I got the impression it was more for the sake of tracking the cause than trying to refuse my warranty. However, maybe more batteries have been failing and they're trying to cut their losses.

Survey type questions for those who leased....just curious

    a. I'd never leased before, but the changing technology made me consider it and the sweetheart deal I got sealed the deal. I'm basically paying the same price I was paying for fuel and repairs on my clunky old Subaru. b. Six months remaining out of 24. c. 12,000 miles a year, but you can get...

    1 year check up

You were charged for the annual checkup? The only service I've been charged for was some paint scratches I had touched up.

    Mitsubishi Battery Study?

I received the request via a call from Orange Country rather than a letter.

    Mitsubishi Battery Study?

I finally got my car back at the end of the study. My dealer tech seemed to think that it was simply to do with examining the battery and some recent failures. Does Seattle have considerably more salt in the atmosphere than, say, California?

    Mitsubishi Battery Study?

Well, the farce continues. After keeping my car two weeks and promising it back today (after promising it back Saturday), the dealership said they installed the new onboard charger, but that the problem persisted. The service tech said that the diagnostic test times out before they can get the...

I replaced my i-MiEV with this

The Spark EV's EPA range is 82 miles, and the Leaf's is 84. I just looked it up because the 110-mile range sounded so impressive. Does the Spark outperform its EPA range significantly more than other vehicles? If not, it's pretty much in the same range as most EVs besides the i-MiEV (lower) and...

I replaced my i-MiEV with this

110 mile range — nice! Is that freeway driving, keeping it at 55? (I usually drive my i-MiEV 70-75mph on the freeway — range isn't a concern for me most days — and never felt like it didn't like doing it.) How does the interior space compare? I'm not sure I could go to 2-doors, but might...

    Mitsubishi Battery Study?

Yeah, I only know of one other in the area. If the onboard chargers are faulty and these were manufactured one after the other, that could be a contributing factor as well. All our i-MiEVs have the cold-weather package, but I don't think there are any other similarities.

    SLC Charging Problem Is Battery

An alarming followup: A fellow Salt Lake City i-MiEV has also had battery failure, with the same symptoms that mine had. I am currently waiting for my onboard charger to be replaced. It turns out that when they replaced my battery, the onboard charger was reporting a failure (code 83 is what I...

    Mitsubishi Battery Study?

It was the transaxle seal — sorry about the confusion. Just made a comment in the annual checkup thread as well. I'm also writing up some info I found out about another local i-MiEV that's had a battery problem with the same problems I had. I might put it in the old battery failure thread...

    1 year check up

My i-MiEV needed a new transaxle seal after my first-year checkup. The part apparently takes a while to come in to the USA, but they said it'd be fine to continue driving it until the seal arrived (which it now has).

    Mitsubishi Battery Study?

SLC is pretty dry all year round. There are a couple other i-MiEVs in the city, so if they only wanted to bring mine in, I'm not sure it relates to the climate. As for the battery, I got my replacement a couple months after the fire incident in which 80 or 100 batteries were recalled, but only...

    Mitsubishi Battery Study?

Makes sense. The dealer commented that mine was the only car coming into the dealership for the study. (Not that there are many more in the area…)
