    USB kit for sale

Great question. In short, I got a killer deal on the LEAF. It is a 2015 base model ("S") without fast charging (which is fine for my use -- my i-MiEV didn't have fast charging either) that stickered at just over $30K. The LEAF was "used", but only had 245 miles! It did have a previous owner...

    USB kit for sale

Well, guys... it's been fun, but all good things must come to an end. The end of my lease is nigh and I removed the USB kit that I installed in my car. I purchased a Nissan LEAF (I'm a traitor, sorry) and don't need this one anymore. I paid $129 plus shipping for it. I'm willing to let it go...

    My longest single-charge trip

Actually, this should be titled, "My unexpectedly longest single-charge trip." Early this week, I had a business trip. The first in a long time -- in fact, the first since I got my i-MiEV. The airport parking is 24 miles away. No sweat! Well, they're highway miles. In Texas. Where the 60 MPH...

Expected range, 2013 i-MiEV, less than 200 km on it

I've found that my experience driving the car has been the biggest increase in range. There is a certain amount of time required to "unlearn" some of the driving techniques you use with a gas-powered car. For example, slowing down going up hills and speeding up going down them. With gas cars, we...

Battery life and 93 miles to go??

I rarely check my RR gauge. This morning, after intentionally running my i-MiEV down to 2 bars then doing a full charge overnight, it displayed 89 miles. I do not hypermile my car; I always drive in the city in "B" mode. Heck, yesterday I had to floor it at a light to change lanes for an...

    BMW i3 test drive

The regen IS adjustable, but only by changing the entire driving mode. For example, if you're driving in "Eco Pro" mode, the regen is very aggressive (very similar to our "B" mode) and will actually take you to a complete stop. Unlike our i-MiEVs, the i3 does illuminate the brake lights when the...

    2014 I MIEV PRODUCTION

If Mitsubishi wants to get rid of their 2014s, I'll be happy to lease another one at the same $69/month as my current one! Hell, I'll even lease it for $99/month since it has the SE-level goodies now.

    Tax Credits

Texas is ready to start offering $2500 credits for EVs too. Interestingly, the full $2500 is only available for 48-month leases or longer. If you choose a shorter term, the rebate is less. http://insideevs.com/texas-2500-rebate-finally-set-go-live/

    Should I purchase a 2014 i?

We had several days here in Dallas with appreciable amounts of snow on the road. Having learned driving in Detroit, I am familiar with snow and how a car should handle. What I saw is the i-MiEV did exceptionally well with the traction control on. Maybe the narrow tires and small contact patch...

    Yet Another EV Survey

Maybe not. Maybe so. Some of the questions seemed to be written by someone who had a vague idea of EVs. Things like "is your range remaining gauge accurate?" and "how far would you drive if your RR says 62 miles?".

    gas-powered i Fuel Economy

The gas-powered i would not meet US crash test results. Because of this, you could not legally or gray market import this vehicle for any use other than race track use. Its 660cc engine would have trouble keeping up with traffic. Remember, the gas-powered i is slower than the i-MiEV.

    A Case of Diminishing Return

It's interesting with the rumors of Nissan making available a LEAF with double the battery (from 24kWh to 48kWh) for an "EPA rated" 150 mile range. The LEAF is EPA rated with its 24kWh battery at 75 miles range. Either they're using a different battery chemistry that is lighter or they've...

    Wheels, Rims, and Tires

Not to mention these tires are rumored to be between $280 and $400 EACH. :o

readout on multi faceted LED? RR stuck in kilometers?

To reset your service icon, put your ignition to the FIRST click (not RUN). Your gauges won't be illuminated. Press the button and just the odometer will illuminate. Press the button to get to one of the two service indicator screens (mileage/months). Press and hold the button for 2-3 seconds...

AAA range test of Leaf and Miev in hot and cold weather

I want to know how they got an average of 105 miles at 75°F out of an i-MiEV, FFE, and a LEAF. Were they driving at 35 MPH on a test track? Doesn't seem like a realistic test to me. i-MiEV EPA Rating: 62 miles FFE EPA Rating: 76 miles LEAF EPA Rating: 75 miles

    Misleading and barely mentioned

Kia is going "upmarket" with the Soul with "upgraded interior materials" and things like a power-open charger cover. The Soul EV is NOT going to be a bargain.

Hello to all, new i-MiEV owner

You also have the benefit of not getting robbed at the gas station. (Not talking about the outrageous gas prices.) There has been a number of incidents in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of just this. Beespeckled, you'll be happier every day that you own your EV. My personal favorite is not having...

    Review 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Consumer's Reports have been quite trollish lately. They published the worst cars of 2014 and included the BMW 7-series. Huh?

    iMiEV Acceleration Times

A lifted Toyota Tacoma pulled up to me at a red light recently, then continued to nudge forward at the light. Boy was he surprised at how fast the i-MiEV can be off the line. His intention was to get ahead of me then make a right turn. Nope! He had to get behind me and make his turn. :P
