    i-Miev Cabin Heater stop heating

Is there enough fluid? Is the pump working properly? Just pop the hood and watch the reservoir: there should be a lot of swirling throughout the cycle, If you have an IR thermometer, you can point it at the reservoir to see how hot the fluid is getting, which should help determine if one of the...

    Heat while plugged in

Yeah, the 8 amp charger doesn’t allow for much heat. One option is to pre-heat the car with a small space heater. I had to do this for a couple of months when the heater died in one of my imievs. Worked surprisingly well, at least for trips up to about 20-30 minute, down to about 20F.

    New title: Weak Heater

If your remote doesn’t beep when the command to preheat is sent, then you may have a problem with the remote—or you may be using it incorrectly. For the former, make sure you are near the car, and that the remote has a new battery. For the latter, carefully read the manual—the remote has a...

    New title: Weak Heater

Just to verify, you are trying to preheat when the car is charging? Also, so you get any beep tones when trying to activate pre-heat? Are you close to the car, with the antenna on the remote fully extended? As for going into turtle, that’s likely a different issue, possibly a bad battery. But...

The remote's interface is very awkward and unintuitive. From what I understand, there's no way to designate either heating delay or duration--which leads me to believe that you may be confusing the charging delay setting with the remote pre-heating function. For pre-heating or cooling, you can...

Heater repaired, and shout out to jray3!

Spot on, Jay. Had I not been able to repair the heater for a reasonable cost, we would have gotten rid of the car. While we could pre-heat it in the mornings with a space heater, we needed real heat for snowy days to keep the window from icing up. Thanks to you, the little beast is alive and...

    Range extender !

This is awesome! I wish that something like this was commercially available. Reminds me a little of the BMW i3's range extender--which I thought was a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Heater repaired, and shout out to jray3!

The heater in my wife's 2016 i-MiEVs failed, and I struggled for a couple of months to find a way to get it fixed affordably. It wasn't looking good at all, until @jray3 announced on this forum that he had a car that he was parting out--and that he still had the heater. He mailed it to me...

    Parting out two cars

Hi jray3, I just tried to PM you, but I'm not sure that it went through. I may be in the need for a heater and/or pump for one of my 2016 imievs. Are these still available? Thanks!

    Canion

I'm using caniOn to help diagnose a slow-heating issue, but I could use some help understanding the "Heater Temp History" panel. Specifically, what is the difference between the two lines (yellow and blue) in the history graph? I assume that there are two different temperature sensors--but where...

    Replacement Battery for Leaf

I wish that they would make one for the iMiev! https://cleantechnica.com/2022/12/26/evs-enhanced-to-offer-16-blade-lfp-battery-packs-for-nissan-leaf/?fbclid=IwAR2O5mM2KzQMGMMwOoXZwuVxeYlyKWccrEivVs50FUXV-x4VkFIXnzHkxS0

    New title: Weak Heater

It does make a little warmth, but very little compared to the other car. On a cold day, it's hard to tell that it's doing anything, but on a warm day it's detectable. Agreed that the heater doesn't look easy to access. I don't have a pit or a lift, so I'm checking to see if some ramps will give...

    New title: Weak Heater

Hi Mickey, Yes, that's correct. It took me a few steps of troubleshooting to determine that one car simply puts out less heat--regardless of whether it is plugged in or not. It does seem to generate less heat when plugged in compared to when the car is running, but I'm not sure that this is...

    New title: Weak Heater

I replaced the blower resister, which didn't help. Worth the $35 to at least rule something out. I did a little more testing yesterday, and I think that the heater actually works, but is very weak. It turns out that it makes a bit of warmth on remote pre-heat, but not much. I just didn't notice...
