First week of commuting with my new 2014.
Love it. My commute is 60 kms and I usually run few errands after work so I think (and hope) this little I-Miev will be perfect.
Have owned a Dynasty IT EV LSV / NEV for 5 years and the I-Miev is 100x better.
I should have bought one 5 years ago!!!
Cheers, Roman

Roman, congratulations! 60km commute - one way or total? Incidentally, I don't know of any i-MiEV sold in North America before December 2011, so you only missed out on three and not five years of ownership. ;)

Congratulations Roman
Welcome to the forum

Great little car - What color did you get? (hope to see some pictures)
I also have a 2014. The more you drive it and get experience with in your personal driving circles, the felling of Range anxiety fades away.
Many safe miles with smiles

My current commute is 30km each way so the 60 km is roundtrip.
But I am attending a class in downtown Vancouver which is another 13 kms further each way.
So 86 plus kms round trip those days.
The good thing is that if I am concerned about my charge (getting maybe a little too close for me at 86 kms distance) the downtown BCIT campus has 2 L2 charging stations downstairs.
Free charging with a Sun Country station if you pay for parking which I would have to do anyway. Still works out cheaper than taking our Skytrain rapid transit from Richmond.
There are actually quite a few charging stations in Vancouver.
(-;

I bought the Pearl Black.

Next job is to put the trailer hitch on (for a bike rack).

Congrats nikalex! My friend from Vancouver is thinking of getting an I-Miev as gas price is ridiculously high there. Were you able to get a good deal from the dealership in Vancouver?

It was a fairly good deal.
British Columbia has re-implemented the provincial subsidy program called the CEV program.
It was cancelled nearly 2 years ago and I missed the boat at that time.
So now we again get $5,000 point of sale incentive plus a $4000 dealer incentive for the 2014's.
In total that was $9,000 off before taxes which in BC add 12% sales tax. So a total of $10,080 off.
There is a potential as well to turn in an old gas guzzler, pre 2000 I think, and get another $3500 off.
I couldn't take advantage of that discount.
There is even an additional loyalty program if you already own a Mitsubishi that you can apply for another $1,000 off.

So all in all a good time to buy IMO.

Well first month of commuting.
2000 kilometers.
Loving the little (not so little) I-MiEV.
No regrets.
Glad my first ever new vehicle was this EV.
Plenty of power.

I am really disappointed (but not surprised) that every car review I read was negative.
The only other electric cars that I have driven are my 2006 Dynasty IT EV and a 1912 Detroit Electric with tiller steering. (1912 - not a typo) The local EV club owns this and shows it regularly.
The I-MiEV is of course the most civilized of the 3.

I am sold on the I-MiEV.
Cheers, Roman

Awesome! Glad to hear it.

Same here. The i-MiEV is my first (and second) car (as in bought and paid for myself. The Cavalier was actually my Dad's car.). No regrets.

What prompted me to add to this topic was my discovery of the 2012 announcement that the City of Vancouver had purchased quite a number of i-Mievs. It appears that they have 30 or so still in operation as well as a number of other electric vehicles. This may be representative of other municipalities around the globe as well.

Given their mild climate, (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vancouver ) its doubtful that they need parking heaters in the winter. ;-)

Official Site: http://vancouver.ca This also has their green initiatives which appear to be quite progressive.

Vancouver City fleet news: http://vancouver.ca/news-calendar/vehicle-fleet.aspx

Per their communication department, however, there are no new updates on their green initiatives or use of electric vehicles.
