Can you imagine a petrol powerd car taking his petrol pump, hose and nozzle wherever he goes?

In germany we do, EV people at least do. Too few charging points, most of them the wrong plug or the wrong RFID card or not public. So most of us do charging in the wild from camping grounds where the blue CEE240V/16A plug is mandatory or from the infamous Schuko plug risking to incinerate our home because the Schuko is not rated for 16A.

Taking an EVSE wherever we go does not make a lot of sense in europe. Leaving an EVSE outside our car when we go away while our car is charging is not an idea we are fond of.

Charging in snow or rain leaving your trunk open or leaving a window open with two cables leading outside to the J1772 socket the other one to a power socket is not something we like either. And we love extending our power cords to the maximum 25 meters (80 feet?) or longer if nobody is watching :)

CEE PLUS plugs and sockets are compatible both ways with to CEE. CEE PLUS is extended by control and sensor wires to be J1772 compatible. So a blue CEE PLUS socket that defaults to CEE 240V/16A when connected directly to the mains would be great. It looks like the CEE sockets and J1772 socket did have the same position of their mounting screws. So a kit to replace the J1772 with CEE PLUS might be doable if the builtin charger could be told to default to 240V/16A for europe at least.
