Hi all,

The isolation bushings in the AC compressor have totally disintegrated. Gravity is just holding it in the car. Has anybody replaced these? The dealership says I need to replace 2x bracket assemblies to the tune of $130 each!

This has happened and been documented here a couple times before. A search would probably find the thread(s). Not sure what the resolution was . . . . but you're not alone

I purchased some replacement vibration 1/4-20 isolators of the same dimensions as OEM and the required bolts and nuts for under $30 CAD delivered from Grainger.ca. (see https://www.grainger.ca/en/product/p/GGM2NPE3?cm_em=128963405&cm_mmc=EMT-_-CreateOrder_EN&rrid=128963405&rmid=CreateOrder_EN&[email protected]) It was a relatively easy fix with good access from under the car. No more thunking over bumps and the AC compressor is much quieter now when heard from inside the car.

My first set of replacement bushings were rather short-lived. I think there was some torque though the bushing as a result of the way that I installed them. I've now installed much more stout bushings: https://www.grainger.ca/en/product/VIBRATION-ISOLATOR-75LB-MAX-1-4-20/p/GGM2NPE8?analytics=orderHistory. There is still a reasonable amount of play in the compressor, so I think these stiffer bushings will still do a good job. I'll report how they last, but I expect they'll be pretty bomber.
