I have been placing my phone on the ledge in front of the GPS/Radio unit. This works well until there is sudden movement and the phone could go flying.

Has anybody found a good phone holder for the Miev? I do not want one that goes on the window. The location of the GPS unit is great with the exception of not being able to securely hold the phone. Thanks.

I have an aversion to having anything sitting loose in the car and have Velcro™ hooks permanently on the back of my phone and stick Velcro™ loops on the dashboard. That's also what holds my Garmin GPS in place.

Here are some photos of the Ram Mount system I just installed to hold my phone / tablet.

They sell Ram Mounts on Amazon.com and elsewhere:

freqflyer, I had tried the suction cup first but the iMiEV dashboard surface is not smooth and the suction cup didn't hold. Thus, I went for Velcro™ since I also didn't want to drill holes in my dash. I find the Velcro™ hooks on the back of the cellphone useful not only for attaching to Velcro™ loops but also to carpet upholstery . Here's a photo of my iMiEV's GPS held on with the stuff:

Posted some pictures of my installation on this Norwegian forum (just Google translate if you need, but the pictures pretty much says it all):

Do you think this would work if I don't want to screw anything in to the dashboard (with the suction cup)?

This self-stick Ram mount would work, it does not mar the surface when you remove it. I used them before for a phone mount.

I found the perfect fit for 5 USD on Ebay.

Do not have the link handy now but it is one of those air vent phone holders that can swivel to landscape and portrait.

Key is to shorten the metal clip that is meant to go behind the air vent blade. Then with the shorter hook also less of a closed angle) you can push the hazard light button and hook it right behind the plastic that comes above the hazard button. The button still travels freely to put it on or off and the holder holds tight and neat on the dash piece right below the vents.

If any interest, I can share some pictures.
