Interesting.

When I was heavily researching the technology used in the EV1, I found that it had an electric defroster embedded into the windshield. It covered the entire windshield and was transparent (obviously). I think having that on all windows would be beneficial, even more so than the door skins, as the windows have no insulation from the outside. That is where I find I have the most heat loss. If the windows are kept warm, then so is most of the interior. Plus, we wouldn't need a constant stream of cold outside air to keep the windshield clear.

The only downside to this would be that nav systems and possibly cell phones wouldn't work inside unless a window was open :lol: (maybe that would be a side benefit :roll: :mrgreen: ).

Yep, it was a version of the GM Electriclear (Ford QuickClear/InstaClear).

I got a close look at one the few remaining EV1 recently, and the windshield had taken on quite a golden hue with age....
