It seems to be right where I like to rest my Left foot :(

Anyone ever take these out and have an issue?

I am planning on getting rubber mats (we get Winter here ) to replace the rug anyway.
Just wondered if this would be an issue with taking out that "cleat" that holds the rug down ?
 
All cars added thingies like this after the Toyota fiasco whereby a loose carpet wedged into the accelerator pedal resulting in a horrific fatal crash. tigger19687, search this forum for rubber mat discussions, as some of our northern friends found some nice ones.
