I figured out the best place to move the 12V aux battery to would be under the rear seats. Just take out the air compressor and filler bottle and you have a perfect spot to install a nice 12V LiFePO4 battery:

Red 16mm2 cable comes from the original battery positive connector in to the cabin through the grommet below the center console, beneath the carpet in the passenger footwell and along the passenger side inside the plastic cover panels:

I have installed a Binar ethanol burning heater where the original lead acid (yuck) battery was.

Another first..... On the relocation.

I think lowracer replaced his battery with headway cells a long time ago.

Congratz. It will be interesting to hear about how things go with the battery installed and how it holds up in cold weather.

I hope you are keeping the air pump and bottle in the car... You never know.....

I just had a flat in my gasser yesterday, what a pain to put on the compact spare on to get home.....

Don.....

I've had the LiFePO4 battery in the trunk for several months now without issues. Admittely the trunk is a warmer place than the new location, but hopefully the battery won't mind too much.

It will be interesting to see what the service personnel think when I take the car in for a traction battery mount recall in a couple of weeks. I just got a notice from Citroën that they'd like to do it and it won't take "over 8 hours". They sure won't be able to follow these instructions to the letter with the 12V aux battery relocated:

The video shows the official procedure on how to make the C-Zero/iOn/i-MiEV safe for work on the traction battery pack. It's actually quite ridiculous. I really don't see how there would be "Hengenvaara" (or "Mortal danger") under the hood. They even lift the whole 12V battery off the vehicle.

And yes, it is my car in the video. :D It's a famous vehicle, for being all over the place before I got it...
