It's interesting to compare cost per unit:
Tesla is the cheapest per battery kWh.
The LEAF has the lowest cost per pound.
Spark has the lowest cost per HP.
iMiEV is the lowest cost and the lightest.

This chart represents the latest values I could find. Please update as the data changes. I wanted to include the VW eUp, but I couldn't get the data.

EDITED thanks to Zelenec and alohart.
http://www.teslamotors.com/models/design says $62,000* for 60 kWh and $72,400* for 85 kWh. I missed the * which caused me subtract a second FED rebate.

The North American i-MiEV weighs 2579 lbs., heavier than the rest-of-world model due to its greater width and length.

The base model Tesla has a 60 kWh battery pack and costs about $71,000. An 85 kWh battery pack adds about $10,000 to the price.

More nice new metrics. I'd like to add the cost per mile of rated range (consistent with cost and range figures in this chart).
LEAF iMiEV TESLA SPARK BMWi3 VW eUP
$286 $250 $273 $234 $364 $319

Only the Spark comes out above the i so far, but may as well add the Fiat 500e and Smart ED to this list.
