Re: Mitsubishi does not want to sell EVs in the USA

I don't get it, but suspect that i-MiEV production is battery-limited, with the bulk of the batteries going to the Outlander PHEV. What's not to get? Dealerships are independent businesses that sell Mitsubishi vehicles. . . . Only a high-volume dealer or a risky son-of-a-gun is going to stock it. I...

Re: Number 2 on the list and some good press finally

Mitsubishi i exists previous to the i MiEV, a kei car with a 660 cm3 three-cylinder engine. That's true around the world, but not in North America. The kei car was never street legal here, of course, so Mitsu thought there'd be no need for the "MiEV" designation here as there was nothing ...

Re: Number 2 on the list and some good press finally

Also, I have resolved to never call my car the "EYE-MEEVE" again. Its an awful name. From now on its the Mitsubishi i electric vehicle, or the Mitsubishi i EV. I'll admit it's a terrible name, but I don't think you're improving matters by calling it something equally clunky AND unreferenc...

Re: Winning Converts to electric drive.

Good job! I've tried to convert some of my friends and family, but so far they tell me with a smirk on their face that if they ever need a golf cart they will consider the i-MiEV. When I offered my brother-in-law a test drive, he declined, told me he already drives one whenever he goes golfing. Suc...

Re: What are the holes in the rear seat for?

Wrong question, because you've misidentified the plastic panel. It isn't there to cover anything. It's there to make it clear nobody's supposed to be sitting there. The i-MiEV is strictly a 4-passenger vehicle, with no space or safety equipment for a middle occupant. In such designs, I believe there...

Re: I replaced my i-MiEV with this

Very interesting that Volt techs are able to work on SparkEV electrical components and receive training on both cars. That helps considerably. I hope that translates to decent support for your gray market beauty, but it makes sense that it would. But $9700 trade-in value for the SE Premium w/9k mile...

Re: I replaced my i-MiEV with this

I'm glad you got what you wanted, and I've heard the SparkEV is a screamer, but what'll you be doing for parts & service? I thought the only authorized service centers were on the west coast. Admittedly, the i-MiEV population (and related service staff experience) is pretty thin, but at least yo...

Re: Outlander PHEV thread

I don't see anything wrong with Americans, or anyone else, wanting to drive a vehicle that looks like and feels like an SUV, but is more suitable for everyday street use. I like my cars a little higher off the ground, with a little extra cargo space for easy in and out of bulky items. Well, that's ...

Re: Outlander PHEV thread

so basically its a sorta sporty large 4WD Volt. Still consumes gasoline albeit at a slower rate. Cheaper than a Volt though. Oh yes, very Volt-like, though we have no reason to expect a price significantly below $40k, thousands more than the Volt. But it will be well worth it. Btw, many Volts (perh...

Re: late 2015 Outlander PHEV

If I wanted a highway rocket for 4 adults I wouldn't be looking at SUVs- that's what sedans are for. Just so we're all on the same page, let's keep in mind that the Outlander is not a SUV. It's a CUV , which in this case means a mid-size station wagon styled to look like a SUV, because a certain ca...
