Re: Our Gas Free Miles Travelled

Bear has around 46,000 miles. Koorz is at 25,000 (bought with 19,300 miles on it), and my Bolt just turned over 23,000 miles. So, that's a total of 74,700 electric miles in my fleet over the last 7 years.

Re: Fuel gauge vs tortoise

At this point, I would invest in an OBDLink LX bluetooth and the Android app Canion. This will allow you to see what the cell voltages are within the pack. The pack may simply be way out of balance.

Re: The last new i-MiEV in the USA?

Correct. The only factory option for the 2014 model was the paint. 2016 saw the return of the nav radio option, but everything else on the car was standardized after 2012. The only optional hardware you could get was all dealer-installable, so you can option these up after the fact. IMO, this is the...

Re: Excessive brake force on IMIEV

It sounds like something is triggering panic assist, which would make the brakes behave like you describe. Does this happen every time you press the brake pedal?

Re: “BRAKE” light in dash

Waclay, do you get a tone with the light? If so, that would point to either low brake fluid, a leak in the vacuum assist system, or the vacuum pump not working correctly.

If you just get the light and no tone, check to make sure the handbrake is fully released.

Re: Shifter starting to have problems

Hi, all. Been off the forum for a while. Both of my cars had this issue, as does a friend's i-MiEV. Like others have said, the fix for this is to lubricate the lever coming out of the gearbox that connects to the shifter linkage. Since this is all open to the elements, the bearings dry out over time...

Re: MCU 20A 450VDC fuse investigation

If the fuse blows during operation of the OBC, then it is very likely that the two snubber capacitors in the HV output section will also be destroyed. This scenario has been reported dozens of times in the past 2 years in the OBC Troubleshooting and Repair thread. So looking at this another way-- c...

Re: Electric Motor Warning Light

When I first got my second i-MiEV, the 12 volt battery got run down and we tried to start it. The failed start latched the warning light. Nothing wrong with the car, just one of those things that needs a manual clear with a programmer.

Re: ASC

I’d say to unplug a wheel sensor if you don’t want any safeties, but I think that knocks out regen, too. Maybe the steering wheel sensor will do?

Re: What Other EV's Have You Driven?

I can add Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (more in-depth drive) and Tesla Model S to my list. Also took a second spin in that Model 3.
