Re: What Other EV's Have You Driven?

So, recognizing the expansion of CCS availability, now that your parents have owned it for a while, is there anything that the C-Max Energi (with its ICE) does that your BoltEV doesn't? My grandparents have the Energi. My parents still have their hybrid (sorry, should've worded that better). Either...

Re: What Other EV's Have You Driven?

Got the opportunity to take a Model 3 for a quick drive last fall. Combine the comfort and performance of the Bolt with the vantage point of driving the i-MiEV, and that's what driving the 3 felt like. Lots of power and good handling with the feeling of being right on top of the road. My Pap bought ...

Re: Got Solar!

Calculate out your electric bill for 25 years, then compare that to the cost of a solar install sized to meet 100% of your consumption. With solar, you're basically pre-paying for power, and often it ends up being cheaper over the warranty period of the solar panels.

Re: My Battery health long term?

That mileage sounds a little low to me, but certainly not bad if that's the original battery. I'll be able to make a better comparison once warmer weather hits. The last couple times I drove my i-MiEV (Chevy Bolt is my daily driver), the range has seemed low, but that might be due to the car sitting...

Re: Dead C-zero after only 6 years and 21k miles :(

I'll second the 12 volt battery replacement. Be really careful if you mess with the heater/AC power connectors. 360 volts is nothing to be careless with. My guess is that the A/C compressor has an internal short or is trying to run while the car is powering up. Both would cause a drain on the high v...

Re: 12V battery BCI Size?

151R is the size you need. After 6 years of ownership (7 year old battery/car), my 12 volt battery finally gave out. Just replaced it this morning with this: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-gold-battery-group-size-151r-340-cca-151r/10081210-P?navigationPath=L1*14920%7CL2*15000%7CL3*155...

Re: Need a longer range ev

What kind of range does the Bolt get at 80-85 mph? That's the typical highway speed here on Friday afternoon on my route to the cottage. While I can't say what the range is at those speeds, at 71 MPH, I did a 170 mile highway jaunt with about 45 miles left on a 100% charge (I've never gone lower th...

Re: i-MiEV Cuts Out After Hitting Bump

Loose 12 volt battery connections would be my first guess. Beyond that, make sure all the fuses are pushed in all the way (remember the cold-weather radio problems some of us had?).

Re: new owner question

I will check those suggestions. On further driving , what i find odd: when i make a turn the steering keeps the car in that turn until I put in an input to stop the turn. It does not "self center" when i release the wheel. Im already getting used to it , just want to know if this is norma...
