Re: Warranty Work Done?

My car came with a tire out of balance. It would vibrate a bit above 50 mph. It was probably a rear tire as the steering wheel didn't shake significantly. Unfortunately it took me three trips to the dealer to get it fixed because they couldn't feel the vibration. Even when I took the mechanic for a ...

Re: ASC and Neutral

... after playing around some more and taking bumpy curves at speed I find that ACS does its thing and selectively applies individual wheel braking irrespective of whether one is in D or Neutral. You beat me to the punchline. We got just enough snow this morning for me to "test" out my i-...

Re: iMiEV in a Pickup Truck? Not pretty.

You just need a snowmobile deck for your truck. :P

Just kidding, they seem to be rated for only 2000 lb. And getting the car on it could be a little difficult.

Re: ASC and Neutral

My daughter and I took our MiEV out in the snow a month or two ago. While I wasn't concentrating on HOW the stability control works, it did make it nearly impossible (at least at speeds under 30 mph) to get the car sideways. Although, applying the parking brake quickly "solved" that proble...

Re: Residual Values

The i-MiEV is so unknown that I would think it's resale value would drop faster than the Leaf because no one will be looking for one. But hopefully my logic here is wrong. :D

Re: i-MiEV Prototype in 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill C

Can I test drive that one? :D Note that Mitsubishi says: "The i-MiEV Prototype will use the same EV components as the current production i-MiEV." This doesn't exclude too much. I assume they will reprogram the motor controller to feed the motor a lot more power. http://www.dailytorque.com/...

Re: Car Horn

I don't know off hand, but how about just tapping off the wire right at the horn? Unless you're deaf, it shouldn't be too hard to find the horn. :D Since I assume you will mount the new horns under the hood, mounting the relay under the hood would probably be the easiest place to put it. Thus, tappi...

Re: iMiEV CdA?

When will manufacturers wise up and produce super-aerodynamic vehicles, as that's the single best way of extending EV range instead of piling on expensive batteries? Aptera, RIP. I think they have wised up. Have you noticed how highly raked the windshield is on the i-MiEV, allowing for a smo...

Re: iMiEV CdA?

Couldn't we get the CdA by doing careful coast-down tests? The force on the car from mechanical friction (rolling resistance) can be assumed constant for the moderate speeds the i-MiEV can obtain. Call this force Ff, then the total drag on the car, Ft, is: Ft = Fd + Ff = 1/2 rho x v^2 x Cd x A + Ff ...

Re: Forward sheilds are down! Heater, AC, Power stearing Pic

I wish I could give you real wattage numbers for the preheat function, but I haven't tried to measure them. So these are just my impressions: If you are charging with the stock level 1 charger (120 Volt), the preheat capacity is very limited. Even if the batteries are fully charged, the system doesn...
