Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

I added the odd numbered images in the above post, for those that might have missed my edit. [ Edit: and re-ordered in order of date and time. ] Do you know if Mr. Wilbrink had to replace the parts on the Waffle Plate™ that appear to be burned? Or did they just get really hot and yet survived? [ Edi...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Those images didn't display for me, due to what seems like a https problem (maybe expired certificate). [ Edit: I see that once I forced the certificate on one, they all displayed. Or maybe it was because I viewed and saved them all; anyway, I hope it saves some readers a lot of trouble. ] [ Edit 2:...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Found a burnt out element C545 https://i.imgur.com/D1KBjS5.jpg Eek. Judging by the thick track that appears to be leading from it, and its proximity to the chip, I'd guess it's a supply bypass capacitor. For that to burn, I'd expect a lot more carnage elsewhere, unfortunately. Good luck!

Re: MCU 20A 450VDC fuse investigation

On both of the 2011's that I've worked on with multiple EVSE, they never respond to the button push, and only break current when the shorter proximity pin comes out. Pull the plug very slowly, and you'll hear the EVSE contactor open up, but yank it fast, and there will be a little arc as you unplug...

Re: not charging my iON, cell or CMU or BMU problems

I appear today to have confirmed that the MUT3 can renumber CMU BMS PCBs I actually thought that they would renumber themselves, using a daisy chained pair of wires between each CMU. Are you sure you needed the MUT3 for this? Perhaps the MUT3 is needed to "kick things off", and the CMUs t...

I have hope that pictures will be available.. They are, thanks. It turns out that flickr.com is one of the hardest ones to extract actual images from. Imgur.com is easier; you'll find a lot of images on this site hosted there. https://flic.kr/p/2iZe2cj https://flic.kr/p/2iZe2C9 https://flic.kr/p/2i...

Just be aware that I live in Australia, and don't own an iMiEV. Shipping from the USA to and from Australia would be totally impractical. Especially in the Covid era.

Re: MCU 20A 450VDC fuse investigation

Should I aim to get the same amperage or as suggested by some to go to 30 A? I a m less concerned with the body type, I can make it fit. We've been ignoring the possibility of some sort of fault that ends up pushing say 25 A through the wires to the fuse. It's unlikely, but it could happen, and if ...
