Re: CMU board notes, eprom, cell numbering

Thanks a heap, Kenny, please keep 'em coming.

I find it strange that the lower voltage regulator has a voltage divider going to pin 1, and the upper one doesn't. Worth a double check?

Re: Replace Low Beam (H11) Head Light Bulbs

is there a trick to it? There is usually a tongue that needs to be depressed, possibly with a small tool like a small flat-blade screwdriver. They're nearly always really fiddly, so some wiggling and force is required even when the elusive tongue is found. A second flat-blade screwdriver may also b...

Re: MCU 20A 450VDC fuse investigation

when mounted in spring clips, it naturally will experience less mechanical stress on the mounting points. I can almost imagine the metal fingers in the original fuse creating a "tuning fork" of sorts. Add impulses from normal car vibrations and jolts, and the fuse could be doing a merry d...

Re: Car not charging

This datasheet seems to indicate that the 50 mA maximum is only for various tests, e.g. dielectric test and lifetime test. Since they mention X-ray and other high pulse power uses, I assume that they are fully capable of taking many amperes, perhaps hundreds, from short pulses, since that is presum...

Re: not charging my iON, cell or CMU or BMU problems

I've been reading the CMU firmware. ... In fact, it seems to me that this happens automatically any time that there is a certain type of error (I can't be certain about what type of error, and it was some time ago I that I found this). Automatic numbering like this seems unlikely - by what mechanis...

Re: Chademo speed and max soc

This is because the two cells with high resistance reach the maximum 4.1 volts within a minute of starting the charge even while all the other cells are still only at 4.075 volts. I suspect though if you replaced those 2 cells with brand new cells, then two or three others would limit the fast char...

But maybe that's the reason for the 12 V battery dying; not getting charged at all.

Re: capacitor ratings

Would you reckon these would represent a beefier cap since the voltage rating is higher, or were you thinking that the capacitance value also needs to be increased? I say don't change the capacitance value unless you really know what you're doing. My feel is that they just need to be physically bul...

Re: now it's got me too...

Maybe something is blowing the MCU fuse first and that causes a chain reaction to blow the snubber caps--but what can this thing be...? I've had a few false starts answering this question (yet again). Here's all I can come up with today. Charrger is charging at near full current. MCU fuse is someho...

Re: not charging my iON, cell or CMU or BMU problems

But I have found a CMU 10 board set (board, wiring and space board) of eBay though so apparently I won’t need this auto numbering function. Oh, I forgot to mention that as far as I know, the ID resides in RAM. If so, all the 8-cell CMU boards would be the same, and you'll need it anyway. But there ...
