Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

I have the board right out and ready to start working on it now, so if you can give some guidence of which pin pairs to check with a meter in diode test mode to test the waffle plate that would be great. Did anyone find a replacement source for the four electrolytic caps on the board ? Two of the la...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Ok here's an update on progress. I've confirmed the 20A MCU fuse has blown, no surprise there, and I can also confirm that one of the two blue caps has split, although not as violently as some other cars as there is no debris anywhere, just a clean double split of the cap: https://drive.google.com/u...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Does anyone know how many litres of coolant it takes to refill the system if I do completely remove the charger and whether regular 50/50 glycol based coolant is suitable ?

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Can anyone who has attempted this repair advise on the following: I'm not keen on removing the entire on-board charger unit from the car if I can help it, so that I don't have to disconnect coolant lines and refill and bleed it later, but I'm also not keen on doing a close inspection of the main PCB...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

The obvious two culprits. I think, especially now that these cars are ageing a bit, I will charge control more closely in the very hot/ very cold weather via the remote... though luckily that is quite rare here in the UK (and the climate is somewhat similar to Japan) (can't remember any charger fai...

Re: Main battery pack weight?

Just to add to this, when I had my pack out to swap some cells I had it on a small wooden framed trolley I built with some 80mm castor wheels, and I was able to pull the battery pack up a small incline to my garage by myself with two ropes attached to the trolley. It wasn't easy but I very much doub...

Re: my 2013 Peugeot iOn will not charge :(

The lids of the boxes under the boot have a sealant type stuff on, its not a gasket. You prise the lid off and it breaks the seal. Also the orange "fuse" under the passenger seat can be removed without taking the seat out - just push it back as far as it will go and its possible to unbolt...

Re: my 2013 Peugeot iOn will not charge :(

Capacitors, fuse (x2) and conformal coating spray on order, caps and spray should be here in a couple of days, fuses look like they may take a week to 10 days or so. Farnell and Mouser both didn't have the caps in stock (weeks or months until new supplies) but I found them in stock at Radio spares. ...

Re: my 2013 Peugeot iOn will not charge :(

What a shame, such rotten timing. But you have more tools than most to access and clear fault codes. Yes having a dealer diagnostic tool certainly helps... i made a repair with the OBC in the car, no need to remove anything unless you can't get a soldering iron out to the car. I can get a soldering...

Re: my 2013 Peugeot iOn will not charge :(

Well, it looks like I am the next victim of this onboard charger scurge. :( My 2011 Ion at 59k miles has also had the onboard charger and DC/DC converter both stop working, and I'm piggybacking on this thread because I think (hope ?) my symptoms are a close match for mrbleepy's car. I plugged the ca...
