Re: Remote fob range extension?

1). Would this be safe to do in the iMiEV's remote? Or would I risk frying sensitive electronics that could cost hundreds of dollars to replace? Yes, you would definitely be risking frying something. Hard to predict what would happen 2). Would doubling the power really increase the range of my remo...

Tesla Truck

Elon unveiled his new semi yesterday. Only offered a few details and that leaves more questions than answers 0-60 pulling an empty trailer in 5 seconds 0-60 pulling a fully loaded trailer (80,000 pounds) in 20 seconds Ability to pull the 80,000 pound trailer up a 5% grade at a steady 65 mph . . . . ...

Re: Oh look another new i-MIEV owner!

I *think* when you have it set to HEAT the warm air coming out of the heater only has a short trip back into the system input when you're using 'recirculate' and that causes the heating element to cycle off after much less time than when you have it on DEFROST and you're blowing that warm air up on ...

Re: Oh look another new i-MIEV owner!

Yes, preheating on L1 is pretty weak. I think the Canadian models came with a 12 amp EVSE which should work a bit better than the USA model with only 8 amps, but using L2 will heat it up much faster and probably a good bit warmer too. The heating element in the car is 5Kw and your 12 amp L1 is only ...

Re: Oh look another new i-MIEV owner!

Welcome! Sounds like you found a fine car and at a good price Yes, winter driving is very different from the other seasons. While the cars A/C system is very efficient, the heater obviously isn't and just keeping the windows clear on a winter day can really use up the energy I suspect you will event...

Jay Leno (who has some of the most valuable cars on the planet) doesn't back into or back out of for that matter, his garage - He pulls in onto a turntable so he can rotate the car 180 degrees and pull out forward just like he pulled in ;-) http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/rooms-and-spaces/garage/fi...

Re: 2012 miev ZERO battery degradation

16 bars displayed is "100%" Agreed Every iMiEV driving around is charging to 100% (even if that 100% only has 3/4ths of the energy it had when new) so it's nothing worth crowing about - When you don't get 100%, you have a battery malfunction I was just curious how our newbie was measuring...

Re: A bill in congress to stifle EV's and alternative energy generally

Well, this is what we elected last November 'Make America Great Again' - Yup When America WAS great, the top tax rate was twice what it is now, so it makes sense it should be lowered even more. Cut taxes on the rich, shift the burden to the middle class and do away with every social program there is...

Re: 240V Charging and Extension cables (Amazing-E)

For sure he doesn't need a very expensive 50 amp RV extension cord to charge his car which cannot draw any more than 16 amps - That would be a huge waste of money! Better to build your own custom cord using 10 gauge wire as jray3 suggested and put the ends you need on that wire. 10 gauge wire is rat...
