Re: Drivetrain transplant

The motor and transmission is rubber mounted to the chassis, with a frame that also holds the motor controller, OBC, Vacuum pump, and power steering pump on top of the motor. Photo: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Ser7gnJDmtm3Uo5FA Almost all the bolt holes for the motor are different distances from the c...

Re: Drivetrain transplant

Here are the co-ordinates for the iMIEV's motor bolt holes i used to machine my adapter plate... thought this could be useful to others if anyone decides to do an iMIEV transplant too. The co-ordinates are from top right to top left (clockwise) when looking at the face of the plate that will meet wi...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

I’m located in NZ, plus this iMiEV was imported from Japan so sadly nothing’s under warranty. Luckily there are no soot/burn marks anywhere in the OBC apart from right next to the failed snubber, and after peeping between the gaps the waffle plate doesn’t show any visible signs of failure. I have re...

Re: LE105 Capacitor on top board

No, sadly the 20A fuse in the MCU was blown as well. we noticed the problem because in the morning the car had stopped charging, but had only gained about 50% charge. Thanks for the advise on those surge absorbers. I wouldn't even have considered replacing them otherwise, and since their such a chea...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Has anyone ever encountered the OKAYA LE105 capacitor in the potting goo on the top board of the OBC exploding as well as the caps on the bottom board when it fails? I’ve bought the new capacitors and will be hopefully fixing the OBC soon, I thought I’d mention this issue as I haven’t been able to f...

Re: Drivetrain transplant

I realised I forgot to plug the j1772 communication plug in properly which caused it to lose it’s ready state, the car stays on ready now. And after plugging in the wheel speed sensors the dash is also no longer a Christmas tree! It seems the car doesn’t need to talk to the heater/AC units to stay f...

Re: Drivetrain transplant

If anyone has any more info on this that would be great, I’m in the process of re-converting a BMW from a DC electric system to use imiev components. At the moment I have the majority of the imievs components laid out on the ground all connected up excluding the Lights, air conditioner/heater, power...
