Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Thanks Kiev, Coulomb and DBMndrake for your valuable comments. Thanks also for the simplified diagram that is very clear for me. So if my understanding is correct, there are 2 theories: Theory N 1, the more favoured, a voltage spike triggers the snubber capacitors and then the fuse blows. Do you thi...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Good news. :) The fuse finally arrived today and the rest was a bit of an anti-climax! I fitted the fuse, put the cover back on the MCU, refitted the traction battery safety link, reconnected the 12v battery, plugged the car into charge listening for a bang but all I got was charging. :D I checked ...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Can you reach the electrolitics caps terminls? If you have a DMM with capacitor function you may at least test them. It is not a sure test for their full integrity but much better than nothing. I have seen many photos of such board and all of them have these capacitors well suffered the heat, but I ...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

DBMandrake, I am sorry for your troubles, you were so ansious and then it happened! I think a voltage spike has triggered and brocken the blu snubber cap and then blowing the fuse. Is my thinking possible? I already put 3 SPD 275V AC rated before my EVSE and I am going to put another 3 Varistors at ...

Dear DBMandrake, Thanks very much for your informtive replies and so honest comments, even I am sorry to note. I am sorry for your enforce and time spent. I am surprise to read the result of your swaping cells experience. On the other hand, surely you have accumulated a lot of knowledge that is a ve...

Re: Is my battery dying ?

Thank you very much JoeS for the cell numbering.
I think to swap my weak cells in spring-summer when the temp condition is more favorable and when the other 2 friends of mine will be available.

I will try to add photos following the procudurs in that link.

All the best you too!
Ciao

Re: I would like to set the charge current lower than 5A

Dear all, Thanks for your inputs. I have used a 220 / 110 trafo 1500VA rated and it works! Thanks very much. Supplying the EVSE at 110V the min current is around 3A on the primary side 220V that means some 700W. So I can start charging at 700W when I use 110V trafo tat is good for me as my PV instal...

Re: I would like to set the charge current lower than 5A

Thank you Don.
I will check with a trafo 230V / 110 V and let all of you know the results.
